Portrait Painting from a Live Model

Description

In this class, we will learn how to paint a portrait from life, learning such skills as blocking in the portrait, dimensions and proportions of the head, looking for light and shadow shapes, modeling three-dimensional form, and getting a likeness. Since it will be from life, you will have the opportunity to experience drawing the profile, ¾, and front view of the portrait. Demos and instruction will be given at each class and then the student will be given time to paint the portrait using the acquired skills. The class runs for six weeks with one model for three weeks, and then another model and pose for three weeks.
