Take this opportunity to invest in yourself.
This course is a 12-week journey into the essential skills every oil painter needs. It is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced painters who want to “fill in the gaps” in their oil-painting skills.
Master materials, explore techniques, and learn to paint every surface.
Over these twelve weeks, students will receive a solid foundation in materials, surfaces, and fundamental oil painting techniques, while also developing the confidence to tackle more advanced subjects.

We’ll begin by demystifying oil-painting supplies—brushes, supports, mediums, palettes, and proper studio practices.
Students will learn how to prepare surfaces, mix color effectively, and build a painting from block-in to finish.

As the course progresses, we’ll move into focused technique studies. Through a series of small exercises painted both from life and photos, and two to three more developed paintings, students will explore how to convincingly depict a range of textures and forms. Each study is designed to strengthen observation, brushwork, and the painter’s understanding of light and form.
In the final portion of the class, we will introduce the fundamentals of portrait painting, including proportion, value structure, mixing flesh tones, and capturing a likeness.
By the end of the course, students will have a collection of finished work, a deeper understanding of oil-painting technique, and a toolkit of skills they can continue to build upon in future studies.
Build your foundation. Strengthen your skills.
Learn to paint anything in oils.
